After a weekend of celebration, The Cine Noir Film Society returns to the outdoor patio at Lucky tonight with a celebration of rarely seen and hilarious comic film shorts. Highlighting the evening is, and new to us, "Play Safe" starring Monty Banks. Never heard of this daredevil comedian/director until two weeks ago when I screened "Play Safe" as a test at Lucky. Audience members who just happened to be there were knocked out by this non CGI/special effects thrill ride. Working bartender that night, Mighty Joe Vincent, upon seeing Mr. Banks in action simply asked, "How did they do that??" Basically, the stunt work displayed by Mr. Banks makes Harold Lloyd's work look like an episode of "The Gilmore Girls." Rounding out the evening will be a non DVD/VHS available or publicly screened Little Rascals silent short from 1925. There will be a few surprises as well and it's all FREE!
